Privacy Policy

Effective: August 4, 2026. This policy explains what data copytmp collects when you use our service, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

1. What we do

copytmp is a temporary sharing service. You share text or files, get a 6-digit code, and anyone with the code can view the content until it expires. There are no accounts, no profiles, and no registration.

2. Information you provide

When you share, we store the text and files you upload along with a generated 6-digit code. If you set a password, we store only a salted hash — never the password itself. If you send a message through the contact form, we store the name, email, and message you provide.

3. Information we collect automatically

We log basic technical data from visitors: IP address, browser, operating system, device type, referring page, and pages visited. We use this to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used.

4. Cookies

We use cookies for core functionality, such as remembering your language choice and keeping password-protected shares unlocked during your visit, and for anonymous visit counting. Most cookies can be disabled in your browser, though some parts of the site may not work without them.

5. Advertising and consent

We display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, we use Google's certified consent management platform, which requests your consent before any ad cookies are used and lets you manage or withdraw your choices at any time.

6. Analytics

We use a lightweight, privacy-focused analytics tool that records visits and events such as share creation, downloads, and deletions. We do not use it to build profiles of identifiable individuals.

7. Data storage and security

Shared files are stored on DigitalOcean Spaces. We protect traffic with HTTPS, enforce a strict Content Security Policy, and apply rate limiting. Passwords are hashed with a unique salt per share and cannot be read.

8. Retention and deletion

Shares are permanently deleted when they expire — the sender chooses between 1 hour and 7 days. Burn-after-reading shares are deleted after the first view. You can also delete a share at any time from its page. Analytics data is kept for a limited period. Contact messages are stored until we respond.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact us through the contact page.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last changed, and we will note material updates on this page.
